ReadSoft takes up the Macmillan Cancer Support Buckinghamshire Business Challenge
Milton Keynes based ReadSoft has signed up to the 100+ Club, Macmillan Cancer Support’s drive this centenary year to raise awareness and encourage donations from more than 100 Buckinghamshire companies through staff involved events.
As a member of the MacMillan Cancer Support 100+ Club, businesses pledge to raise a minimum of a £1,000 across the year. That target has already been smashed in the first month by the staff at ReadSoft, and they are committed to raising even more.
Accounts Assistant, Ashley Kirk, got things off to a tremendous start, joining the crew of a Dragon Boat to race for MacMillan. His own efforts to raise funds, which were then matched by ReadSoft, earned £1,400 for the cancer charity. That amount is more than enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for a week; ensuring people living with cancer and their families receive essential support and advice.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg. Every week 58 people in Buckinghamshire are told they have cancer. So ReadSoft plans to do even more in the coming months, including holding a World’s Biggest Business Coffee Morning, which will be hosted this September in the ReadSoft offices. Simon Shorthose, Managing Director, ReadSoft, said: “Deciding to formerly support the fantastic work that MacMillan does was without doubt the easiest decision we have taken this year. Cancer affects one in three of us, and here at ReadSoft we have enough personal experience of the disease and the challenges that MacMillan faces, to know that we had to do whatever we can to help.”
